A few weeks back we went out for a Sunday drive with no particular destination in mind and ended up a little less than an hour and a half outside St Louis in Onondaga Cave State Park. We walked around a bit and decided to come back and enjoy the river.
Over the last few weeks John and I have gone out for a weekday splash. We pack a lunch and take our folding lawn chairs and sit in the water and relax. The crowds are small and we can meet friends and position our chairs with social distancing and enjoy the sun and water on the rock beach. We are planning on checking out Meramac State Park and St Francois State Park for our “River Sittin’” over the next few weeks. I would love any suggestions for close rivers we can check out or if anyone wants to join us over these last few weeks of summer, shoot me a message or leave a comment.
Because we are still not comfortable going out I’ve been learning to make homemade pasta and pizza and making a lot of homemade bread. We’ve ordered carryout a few times, we tried Bombay Food Junkies which was outstanding, and longtime favorites Dao Tien and Pirrone's Pizza have been comfort food go to's.
Of course we are really missing live theatre but we have discovered a number of streaming shows on line. We get all dressed up and sit really close together and watch a show on tv. I discovered Thespie, a site that compiles all the streaming theatre productions with search options for musicals, opera, plays or concerts and you can even sort by free productions as well. We watched a few from The Royal National Theatre: Frankenstein, One Man, Two Guvnors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, She Loves Me and an amazing production of Carousel from Broadway. Not the same as going to our favorite theatres but good when suffering from theatre withdrawal.
