With the amazing tastes of fall this month we’ve started taking Sunday drives out to some of the areas parks and checking out hiking trails. We started with Phantom Forest and Bittersweet Woods in Des Peres, two attached and heavily wooded areas with trails and wildlife. I don’t think you’re ever more than 600 feet from any house but it felt like we were 600 miles away. Deer crossed in front of us a few times. The trails are clearly marked with some hills.
The following week we went out to Cliff Cave in South County off Telegraph Road. There are several paved, flat trails and an overlook with amazing views of the Mississippi. We didn’t make it to the cave this time or down to the walk along the river but we will be back.
Take-Out Tuesday is an effort to help local restaurants by ordering once a week if you are not comfortable going to restaurants now. This week we ordered from Haveli Indian restaurant. They offer curbside pick-up and delivery through the apps. We started with a favorite, Chili Paneer, homemade cheese cubes in a spicy sauce with chiles, tomatoes and bell pepper. To try something new we ordered their Mango Chicken and Chicken 65. The mango chicken had fresh mango in an onion sauce gravy with garlic and ginger. The Bin 65 is a very hot chicken fried and served in a tomato sauce. Both were excellent choices for us.
